So I doubt its the power supply as its within spec even a little below 5V and also the system seems to get that WifiEvent=4 which is connected to the "WiFi.status" being listed as "connected". If I connect the device to the external power (and this happens with or without the USB still connected to the PC), it always fails at WifiEvent=4. 20% of the time it will however stop at the WifiEvent=4 and then basically be connected but not having a proper Wifi initialisazion with IP. Then it can load the time and all is well. It connects to Wifi (its WPS enabled) and I first get a WifiEvent=5 (disconnected), then a WifiEvent=4 (unknown designation) and then a WifiEvent=7 (got IP address). Now what happens is: If I connect the device to USB, it works like 80% of the time. This is attached to the 5V pin of the module - from what I read this is the "Vin" pin and should have a range of 4.7 to 6V.

Since the stepper motor needs 12V to have enough torque, I use a 12V power inlet and have a small 5V power L7805 part with a Electrolytic condensator attached. Its supposed to connect to Wifi, get the NTP time and keep a Telegram Bot connection for control and messages, have a menu in which one can select options and a run mode which will control a stepper motor and some MOS outputs and sensors like distance sensor. Its a Heltec Wifi Kit V2 board with ESP32. So I just do not really get it: I have developed a project to a well advanced stage now.
